What they don't tell you is that the enemy that gets drop kicked will also be staggered for a significant amount of time. The game teaches you early on that you can stagger enemies with a perfect block, allowing you to vault off of them and drop kick another enemy. But at the same time, shortcuts that you unlock before you die will remain unlocked, so there's never a feeling of lost progress when you keel over. There's no real penalty for dying during the day, except for the fact that your weapons will maintain whatever durability they had when you died. When it's not nighttime, don't stress too much about dying. The superpowered Volatiles usually start coming out by chase level 4, and when you're still new to the game, they can tear you apart in seconds! Make sure you've got a lock on where those UV-safe zones are because you're going to need them if you try and squeeze as much experience as you can out of the nightlife. An interesting extra wrinkle to this whole thing is the risk-reward aspect of triggering a chase.Īt chase level 1, you get an x2 experience bonus At chase level 2, 3x Chase level 3, 4x and chase level 4, it's a 5x experience boost. Everything you do at night will provide you with extra experience, but you don't get that experience added until you survive the night. Speaking of nighttime, much like in Dying Light 1, there's a nighttime bonus that gives you a bit of extra incentive to play in the dark. You can also farm these trophies at nighttime by hunting down howlers. While it can be overwhelming and often impractical to loot every corpse you create, do make sure to loot the fast zombies, known as virals, as they're the most common special infected that you'll come across. They all dip into other stats too, but generally, if you're looking to spec into a specific playstyle, it can be helpful to try to stack as many of a particular type of loot as you can. 
And Medic items focus on healing effectiveness, health regeneration, and some damage resistance. Ranger gear is all about movement, your survivor sense, ranged damage, and stealth. Tank loot focuses on two-handed weapons and various damage resistances. Dying Light 2 conveniently breaks down its gear into four classes (even though there are no classes in the traditional sense): the Brawler, Tank, Ranger, and Medic.īrawler loot focuses on one-handed melee weapons and stamina regeneration. Your gear level contributes to your overall gear armor score, which measures how much protection your armor grants you, but there are many other stats to consider. Higher rank gear doesn't always necessarily mean it's better.

However, there is one way to stretch out the life of your weapons just a little bit longer: Modding.īy inserting a mod into a slottable weapon, you'll be able to restore about 20% of its durability. There's no NPC or workbench dedicated to fixing broken weapons, and it isn't an option in your basic crafting menu. And to be fair, that's because you sort of can't.
